Sustainable agriculture
Sustainable agriculture is defined as: ‘the use of farming practises and systems which maintain or enhance; the economic viability of agriculture production; the natural resource base and other ecosystems which are influenced by agricultural activities’. (SCARM, 1998)
The importance of sustainable agriculture is strongly linked with resilience within rural areas. Building and maintaining resilience in farming focuses on building strong networks, sustainable agriculture practises and engagement of regional and rural communities.
